About Us

In the aftermath of October 7, 2023, Jews in Repro started as a grassroots group of Jews who currently or formerly work in the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement who sought a supportive space to express their concerns about an increase in anti-Jewish language in movement spaces. We reject the false choice between supporting either Israeli or Palestinian safety and security.

We are a vibrant community of people with diverse opinions about Israel, Judaism, and Zionism with shared commitments to respecting and supporting each other. We represent different geographies and practice our faith and connect to Judaism in many different ways. Jews have a range of different racial and ethnic identities, including multiracial Jews, Jews of color, Mizrahi Jews, Sephardi Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, and Jews from every corner of the world. This diversity is in part a byproduct of a global search for safety as Jews have been forced to flee persecution and violence for the past 2,000 years.

Despite broad differences in our practices and beliefs, we abide by several grounding principles, including:

  • A deep commitment to advocating for reproductive health, rights, and justice in our various personal and professional capacities;

  • Creating and nurturing a thriving ecosystem of Jews engaging in reproductive health, rights, and justice work across the country;

  • Distinguishing between the actions of state governments and the actions and attitudes of the people that they serve;

  • Affirming the Jewish people’s right to and need for national self-determination in some portion of our ancestral homeland, while being explicit that the Israeli government is not immune from critique;

  • Believing that no one should be ostracized or pushed out of repro spaces for their religion, for their views about or relationship with Israel, including identifying as a Zionist, or for advocating for Palestinian human rights;

  • Affirming that all people, including Arabs, Israelis, Jews, and Palestinians, have a human right to self-determination and to live in safety and security;

  • Working to ensure that Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and all other type of bigotry have no place in our group, our movement, or our country.
